Blue Dot Network First Certification Ceremony

Blue Dot Network Celebrates First Certified Infrastructure Projects

On Thursday 24 April 2025, the Blue Dot Network (BDN) marked a major milestone with a Certification Ceremony recognising the first four infrastructure projects to receive BDN Certification. This event represents a significant step forward in advancing trusted, high-quality infrastructure investment aligned with sustainable development goals.

The certified projects span four countries and diverse sectors, demonstrating the flexibility and rigour of the BDN Certification Framework:

  • Eurasia Tunnel, Türkiye

A 5.4 kilometre undersea road tunnel linking the European and Asian continents. The project enhances regional connectivity and reduces travel time, saving commuters over 23 million hours annually. Certified by SGS.

  • Águas do Rio, Brazil

A major water and sanitation concession serving over 10 million people. The project improves public health outcomes, restores local ecosystems, and generates 8,000 jobs within the community. Certified by Bureau Veritas.

  • Palau Submarine Cable PC2 Project, Palau

A subsea telecommunications cable that strengthens digital resilience in the island nation of Palau. It provides uninterrupted access to critical services such as healthcare and education while preserving marine biodiversity. Certified by Ricardo.

  • El Dorado International Airport, Colombia

An international transport hub handling 40 million passengers annually. The airport has implemented leading sustainability practices, including reduced energy and water usage and the reuse of 75 percent of its solid waste. Certified by SGS.

These projects reflect the BDN’s core principles of transparency, efficiency, open access, environmental stewardship and resilience. Their certification underscores the role of independent, standards-based verification in catalysing investment in infrastructure that delivers long-term value.

The event brought together a broad community of stakeholders, including governments, multilateral development banks, civil society, and private sector leaders, all united by a shared commitment to advancing infrastructure that is inclusive, sustainable and built to last.

The BDN Secretariat extends its congratulations to the teams behind the certified projects. Their leadership sets a powerful example of what trusted investment can achieve and serves as a blueprint for future certifications across regions and sectors.
